Public Transportation

Public Transportation in Sitka
Public transportation in Sitka is unique. The nonprofit Center for Community oversees the program, with help from two main partners—Sitka Tribe of Alaska operates the RIDE (the blue fixed-route scheduled service) and Southeast Senior Services operates the Care-A-Van (the white paratransit buses for seniors and those needing assistance). The City and Borough of Sitka has made small contributions to the operation of public transit in Sitka, providing a $25,000 contribution to the RIDE in the 2015-16 budget and supplying fuel and maintenance for Care-A-Van buses over the years. More details about each service are listed below. Also, please check out our new standalone transit website at http://ridesitka.com/.
